The other day I shared a little about my mom, and how my loss is what fuels my passion for documenting motherhood. I feel so honored to be able to capture motherhood, families, and new life entering the world.

Seven years. It's been 7 years today since I've been able to wish my mom a happy birthday. Six years since I have seen her face.
Grief.
This is what fuels my passion for what I do. I want to capture moments between loved ones, so they can treasure them forever. I know first-hand how precious a photograph can be. I cannot say how much I wish I had more photos with my mom. She hated having her photos taken, and so I have very little.
Many amazing photographers that I know are mothers, and this is why they feel so passionate about documenting motherhood. I am very anxious for the day that I am a mother, but I don't need that role in order to feel how powerful motherhood is. I KNOW how powerful it is. How important that role is. I spent many teenage years disagreeing with how strict my mom was. Now, I wish I could hear her thoughts on my day-to-day life. I cannot go back in time and say more "I love you"s, but I can help others have those feelings captured in a photo. For THAT, I am thankful.
