Announcement | Changes to BBP in 2020 // Bellingham Photographer

It feels hard to believe that 2019 is coming to a close. This year has flown by! It has been a really wonderful year in business. I’ve met so many new beautiful families. I have also learned many lessons. More on that in my “year in review” blog post coming soon!

I will get straight to the point! Here are some changes that I will be making next year.

Morning Sessions

More morning sessions! I love those golden sunset shoots, and I will continue to shoot during that time, but morning sessions are calling to me. I love shooting with even-light, before harsh sun comes out. Also, early mornings often work great for kids!

I will have a few mornings a week available for indoor and outdoor family sessions. I will just have a couple of evenings available per month for those sunset sessions. Most often, sunset shoots will be held on weekday evenings. So, if you’re set on an evening shoot, make sure you reach out in advance so you get can your spot!

The morning sessions will take place between 7am-9am, depending on the time of year. During fall, we can often shoot around 10am.

More P L A Y

What I love to photograph the most is real connections. Real emotion, real laughter, and just REAL moments between families

What this will look like is more encouragement to play with your kids. I always tell my families this, but I think it is on my part that it doesn’t always happen. The focus is to capture your family as is. I always get smiling-at-the-camera shots, but those are done and we move on to more lifestyle shots. This is why I love full sessions, and why I will continue to offer less and less mini sessions.

Playing in the water is ALWAYS a good idea!

Mini Sessions Will Be Limited

Like I just mentioned above, mini sessions will be limited. I will be hosting a few dates per year of minis, but they will only be offered in groupings. I said this last year, too, but then I went back on it, haha. I make this decision for a reason, and I need to remember this! I feel my best work is done during a full session. We have time to capture real connections, and you already read why I love that!

More Family Films

I have really loved learning more about filming video. I am no expert, to be very clear. Photography is where experience is, but I am enjoying making short videos!

I will be offering short films (2-3 minutes) as an add-on to family sessions, newborn sessions, Fresh 48s, and birth stories. I would love to help you remember all the details of your family!

More Adventures

I would love to explore more locations next year! The mountains are so close to us, as well as many different stunning locations. Specifically for mountain sessions, they do require more planning, and we will most likely shoot in the evening! Unless we want to wake up SUPER early. I’m totally okay with that, to be clear :)

In-Home Sessions

I would love to start shooting more in my clients homes! In-home sessions are special, and really great options for kids. With my full sessions, we have the option of using 1-2 locations, so we can start in your home, and then go to an outdoor location. Or, just shooting in your backyard is great, too!
The only important part to scheduling an in-home session is lighting. If you have some good natural light then we’re good to go!
